The Go Workabout Origin

Go Workabout comes from the aboriginal term 'gone walkabout'. This term is used in Australia when someone is... just gone. Not dead, not injured not in any real trouble, just gone on a mission to see what is out there.

In Australia, if you ask where someone is and the response is, 'Jimmy's gone walkabout', you don't need to ask where, you don't need to ask why and you don't even need to ask when he will be back. He has gone where he wants, he has gone because he wants to and he will be back when he is done. That's it.

We at Go Workabout have all 'gone walkabout' before but we have had to earn a living whilst at it. We know first hand how daunting it can be to go to a new country and not know when your money is going to run out, not know if you will get work; in fact - not known very much at all.

Despite having fantastic experiences, we all agree that having a bit of security as to where your next job is going to be would have been a help to us. Equally as important but often overlooked is the value of real, hands on advice on how to get everything sorted in the most efficient way possible.

Lets face it, no one wants to waste holiday days dealing with tax, transferring money and making phone calls about jobs, that's why we think it's a good idea to organise it all in advance.

This is how Go Workabout was born.
