Go Workabout has an arrangement with Westpac Bank; one of the largest and most reputable banks in Australia. They have branches all over the country so you will be near a Westpac Bank branch wherever you intend to travel to.
As with all banks, there are fees and charges for transferring money into an Australian account from a foreign bank account. When you transfer your money, this is what you can expect to be charged:
-
You will be charged AU$8 to receive money in your Australian Westpac bank account from an overseas account (your overseas bank account will probably also charge you a small amount to do this, depending on the bank).
-
For reasonable sums of money (e.g. 100 pounds), this is the most efficient means of exchanging foreign money into Australian dollars, since banks typically have very competitive rates. You would be charged more than this if you exchanged 100 pounds into Australian dollars at the airport for example.
-
Westpac Bank charges a flat monthly service fee of AU$5. This gives you unlimited transactions across branch, ATM, EFTPOS, Telephone and Internet Banking.
-
The monthly service fee will only come into effect when you reach Australia, go into a Westpac branch an activate your account.
These are the main fees and charges you can expect to pay when banking with Westpac. If you have any more questions, please feel free to email us at info@goworkabout.com
