It is normal for employers to pay you directly into your bank account and if they are paying into your foreign account you will be charged foreign transaction fees each time.

When should I get one?

Get one anytime! The further in advance the better, but even if you only send us an application a week before you travel to Australia, we can open a bank account for you within one working day if necessary!
